Ahhh, summertime. The season of chic outdoor fêtes, picnics, BBQs, good vibes and a whole lot more. We asked five of our own here at Team Social Studies about their summer musts—read on to see what we're up to and into this time of year.
Elise's Must Watch
The Tokyo Olympics are, in my humble opinion, the must watch event of the summer. These world class athletes and their astounding performances never cease to amaze me and you can find me in my apartment, screaming at my TV and cheering all of them on for two weeks straight! Below is a screenshot I took of one of my best friends and former college teammate on the podium along with her crew after they won gold for Australia in the women's four in rowing. So proud!

Stanley's Must Do
It's an absolute must to go to a show at the Brooklyn Mirage in East Williamsburg. Famous DJs from around the world come to perform here and it's always an amazing time. There is never a summer in NYC where the Mirage doesn’t offer a go-to event. Oh... did I forget to mention that there are towers that shoot fire into the air and lights you can see from space? Yeah, definitely a must do.

Courtney's Must Read
The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller! A story of summer, secrets, love, and lies, it follows the course of a singular day on Cape Cod where one woman must make a life-changing decision that has been brewing for decades. Reese Witherspoon’s book club pick for July brought all the summer heat... I couldn’t put it down!

Becky's Must See
Land, Robin Wright’s directorial debut is a beautiful, sweeping film with a powerful story about a woman living in isolation in the wilderness. Seeing her grow, strengthen, and adapt to her stunning mountainous surroundings is an inspiring tale of badassery and individuality that sticks with you for days after watching… and seeing her rely on and connect with both nature and other human beings reminds us how vital our communities are for mental and physical well-being.

Gabi's Must Listen
Sunscreen is hands down a summertime essential and the Supergoop!: Holly Thaggard How I Built This episode, an essential listen. Holly Thaggard set out to change the way people think about SPF, advocating for people to wear it not only during the summer months, but everyday! Holly went from being a teacher to a master in sunscreen chemistry and created a brand that makes putting on SPF more fun, playful and appealing.

Nicole's Must Have
New Balance has mastered the art of collaborations so when they announced their latest with clothing brand, STAUD, my interest hit the ground running. The entire collection is my ideal summertime wardrobe (especially in Austin's blistering heat), made up of pretty pastels and preppy exercise wear perfect for the tennis courts. But it was the pastel green and yellow 57/40 sneakers that put a pep in my step the moment I tried them on. Whether I’m walking the dog with denim shorts or pairing them with a flouncy frock, I can’t step out of the house without getting compliments on them. Plus, they’re New Balances so you know they’re comfortable.
